Community Action Commission offers the one time utility assistance (Gas & Electric only) to qualifying individuals. The family / individual must call 1-800-655-0617 to request an application packet for utility assistance. The representative to ask for is Martha. 

 

To qualify you must live in SB County, may be unemployed, a senior, disabled, on a fixed income or a low income family with children under 5.

 

              *If you live in SLO County you must go through EOC to receive the one time

               utility assistance payment.

 

 

Community Action Commission

Community Action Commission Energy Services is dedicated to energy conservation through education, home weatherization, and Gas appliance safety testing. We provide services to help reduce energy costs to the consumer and utility payment assistance to low-income-qualified households. These services are free to all income qualified households. 

 

Program’s focus:

Weatherization
The Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County has received funding from the Department of Energy’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and other sources to provide free weatherization services to thousands of low-income households in
Santa Barbara County. This free service for eligible families lowers utility bills by: installing weather stripping, water heater blankets, low-flow faucets, and other minor household repairs. Recipients can either be homeowners or renters with landlord approval. Services also improve home health, safety and comfort by identifying carbon monoxide and other safety hazards.

 

Home Energy Assistance Program
If your are unemployed, a senior citizen, disabled, on a fixed income or a low-income family with children under 5 your may qualify for a one time payment to the utility of your choice.
The Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County has a program that may assist you if you have received a shut off notice from your utility company or just need assistance paying utility bills. 

 

Gas Appliance Safety Testing
Income-qualified applicants can receive FREE gas appliance safety testing. If your gas appliance is found unsafe CAC can repair/replacements your old gas furnace or appliance.
